Day 72-77 Cochrane, Calgary, and the drive back to Seattle

The final stop on our road trip would take us up to Cochrane and Calgary Alberta.  What should have been a 7 hour drive up to Cochrane from Helena took closer to 10 as the heat and the hills forced the camper to stop a few times to prevent over heating.  We arrived in Cochrane in the evening and shortly after getting settled in Kerri, Darryl, and Stephanie arrived on their final night of a long road trip.  We caught up until the early hours of the morning and then spent the majoriy of the next day visiting with them. The second morning in Cochrane was a fun one for Scott as he was able to get in a round of golf with Jason, DJ, and one of Jason's buddies.  Diane and Tori went for a run around the neighbourhood.  Later that day we went for a walk along the Bow River as well as spending some time helping setup things around Diane and DJ's new place.  A new garage door opener was installed, some electronics setup, and the front door keypad reprogrammed.  On our third day in Coc

Day 70-71 Helena

After sleeping in to somewhat recover from the somewhat never ending drive.  We were excited to spend a couple days in Montana with Dustin, Dani and their kids.  It was nearing a hundred degrees in Montana so we all packed into Dustin's truck for a short hike into refrigerator canyon.  AFter the hike and after barely making it to the gas station the six of us went for a dip in the lake.  Taking advantage of a rope swing and after jumping 20 feet off a bridge into the water we headed back for dinner and a campfire on their gorgeous new patio.  The second morning Scott and Dustin went out onto the lake in the kayak's before everyone headed into town.  A visit to the Montana Historical Society Museum was fun and informative.  Thirsts were high again from the heat and a couple pints and some pizza were had at the famous Lewis and Clark brewery. Another memorable day in Montana was capped off by good company around the campfire.

Days 66-70 Guelph, and the drive west

We woke up, and for the last time in the trip packed up our tent, then canoed back across the lake.  A short ways down the road we made a stop in Napanee as Tori wanted to see the hometown of rock start Avril Lavigne.  Soon enough we were back on the 401, headed to Toronto to meet up with Mark and Meghan for a couple of drinks.  Tori got a light dose of Toronto's world famous traffic and a couple of beverages were enjoyed at Bierra Vollo in Little Italy.  Thanks Mark and Meghan for the drinks and the company, hopefully its not too long until we meet again.  Our next destination would be Guelph where we would be staying with Kieran for a few days.  For the next couple days we hung out in Guelph and Kitchener Waterloo seeing a bunch of Scott's friends and former colleagues.  Lunch was enjoyed at the Baker Street, as well as multiple bbq's at Kieran's place.  Sunday afternoon was a snack filled affair at with Jon and Andi as we enjoyed the company and tour of their lovel

Day 65 - Hungry Lake

Our final day in Ottawa and we got off to a slightly later start than we wanted.  We headed back downtown and once again couldnt get a Parliament centre block tour ticket so I guess we need to come back soon for a visit.  Repeating our lunch from a couple days prior we once again devoured a couple of bagels in the market, before returning to the car and heading to Hungry Lake.  Hungry is a small lake a couple hours southwest of Ottawa that Scott's family had a cabin on during his youth.  Upon arriving we were greeted by the friendly people of Hungry Lake Lodge and soon were off in a rented canoe.  Paddling past the old cabin, Scott was impressed with the amount of the work that has been done since they had owned it.  Soon after passing the cabin we realized that we had left the tent in the car so we paddled back in, grabbed the tent, and went on our way down to the other end of the lake were there is a small beach and a secluded spot to setup a tent.  We cooled down with a dip in t

Day 62-64 - Ottawa

Day 62 Our first full day in Ottawa would be one spent catching up with many of Scott's friends.  After a morning of doing laundry we headed to Lansdowne Park and had lunch at Joey's with Mazin and Mo.  Tori endured a couple hours of spirited tech talk that ranged from the differences between working in government, Microsoft and Amazon, to opinions on how our education prepared us for our careers. Finishing lunch and saying goodbye to old friends, Tori and I headed up to walk around the Hog's Back rapids see the area that I used to live.  A stop at Baskin Robbins and a bit more driving around chased the rest of the afternoon away. Dinner was enjoyed at Scott's favourite thai restaurant, Nokham Thai, and then the night moved down the street to Clock tower westboro.  Drinks were enjoyed with Josh, Tiara, Jeff, Kristen, wee Charlie and Zac. The night was capped off with a stop for some poutine. Day 63 Waking up a bit later than we wanted we headed down to explo
