Flight and Thailand Day 1

Flight

Our flight to Bangkok was uneventful despite being delayed due to heavy airplane traffic at seatac.  Asiana Airlines took good care of us on both legs of our flight.  The near twelve hour journey from Seattle to Seoul followed by the shorter four an a half hours from Seoul to Bangkok.  The taxi system at the airport was very organized and we were soon on the near empty expressway destined for our hotel.  All in all we were door to door in a bit over 24 hours.

Despite driving in at night the size of Bangkok was apparent.  Bangkok is a huge city with many neighborhoods and districts, boasting a population of approximately ten million people.

Thailand Day 1

Our first day in Bangkok started with a lengthy walk from our hotel to the Thai Travel Clinic.  We could have taken a tuk tuk but opted to see some of the city on our way to getting necessary vaccinations.  The time spent was well worth it as we are now protected for our travels in south east asia as well as our upcoming trip to South America.  12 hours since the shots and no side effects have been noticed.   We continued our day by taking a tuk tuk back toward our hotel stopping at the famous Khao San road.  This road is lined with hundreds of vendors selling all kinds of goods targeted at tourists.  Tori ended up with a couple sun dresses and a Sarong, Scott a t-shirt featuring a Thai beer company.

No crazy food was eaten today, simple pad thai and glass noodle dishes at lunch, some green curry for dinner.   Tori was feeling a bit jet lagged early in the evening so went to bed early while Scott wandered around for a couple hours before calling it a day.

Victory Monument.  Many Thais believe this was built as an abuse of military power.
