Thailand Day 8 - Temples and Thai Cooking Class

The first task of today was to drop off our laundry, with that out of the way we made our way through the city to see a couple temples in Chiang Mai.  Wat Phra Singh was our first temple of the day followed by Wat Chedi Luang.  The day passed by quickly and we were soon off to take a Thai Cooking Class.

We were lucky and were the only two people who had signed up for the class.  The class began with a trip to the market where our teacher showed us the in and outs of Thai ingredients at the market, how to tell if certain items were ripe or not, what some ingredients looked and smelled like.  We were shuttled back to the kitchen for the fun to begin.  The first task was to prep some spring rolls, followed by cutting up the ingredients for our soups of choice.  Scott chose a Spicy Tom Yum Shrimp soup and Tori an herb soup.

Following preparing and eating our appetizers we were then put to task on the main course.  Tori would prepare Green Curry Chicken and Cashew Chicken, Scott a spicy panang chicken curry and tofu pad thai.  Lots of excitement was had scorching the chicken and the tofu.  The food turned out great and hopefully we will be able to find the ingredients back home to recreate some of the tastes.  Huge thanks to the folks at Thai Kitchen Cookery Centre for giving us an exciting evening.
