We were up at 6 and picked up promptly at 7 for our tour of the desert of bolivia. We were driven to the border, where it took some time to get through the departure process in chile. We were gathered with about 15 others at the bolivian border where our tour group took our passports into the office and returned with them all stamped. Definitely a unique border crossing. We were split into 3 toyota land cruisers and after a decent breakfast were bouncing across bumpy dirt roads on our way to the first of many lagoons we would see. The tour took us took several different colored lagoons and geysers that were located on a plateau at over 16000 feet. The scenery was spectacular and the altitude noticeable walking around at that height. The final stop of the day was at the red lagoon which was full of flamingos and a spectacular color in the late day light.
Well we had one incredible year of travel over the latter half of 2018 and the first of 2019. We will continue to use this to post on other places we find ourselves lucky enough to explore as part of our return to normal life.
