Bolivia Day 8 - Sucre Walking tour

In the morning we did a walking tour of Sucre with condor trekking.  The tour gave us a lot of history about the indigenous people of the area through the arrival and impact of the Spanish up to the present day battle to have Sucre reinstituted as the full capital of Bolivia.  The tour wandered through the main square, the central market and another large park before we took a bus up to the famous Recolata neighborhood with its cobblestone streets and white buildings.  From the first plaza of sucre we got sweeping views over the remainder of the city.

Following the tour we grabbed lunch at the thai restaurant again before getting a taxi out to the Gabriela Palace which is about 3 miles out of the city down by the river.  This famous pink castle was one of three residences owned by a very wealthy couple who spent their fortune helping the orphans of the area.  Eventually their impact was so great that they were named Prince and Princess of Sucre.
