Bolivia Day 12 - Tiwanaku

We took a tour out to the UNESCO heritage site of Tiwanaku.  Tiwanaku is one of the largest archeological sites in South America dating back to at least 1580 BC.  The state of the site and the artifacts has suffered severely from centuries of looting and destruction by the Spanish in order to use the stones to build a church and other buildings located in the present town.  Other destruction was caused by military target practice.  Our feelings at the end of this day were mostly that of well we checked it off but didnt feel like we learned our saw anything of great interest.
