Vietnam Day 19 - Hoi An to Nha Trang - SEAsia Day 45

After a few days of being up early we both needed a bit of a break.  We slept in and had a day planned.  We visited four more places in the old town.  We visited the Old house of Phung Hung,  The Phuc Kien Assembly Hall, the Museum of Trade Ceramics, and the cantonese assembly hall.  In the middle of this we had lunch at the Streets Restaurant, an establishment that tries to help underprivileged youth gain skills in the restaurant industry so they can lead a successful life.  In the early evening we caught a bus to the city of Nha Trang.  The bus ride took us about 12 hours and we arrived as the sun rose. The food at Streets was delicious.

Vietnam Day 18 Part 2 - Hoi An - SEAsia Day 44

After returning to the hotel and washing off the smells of the morning.  Tori and I ventured across the old town and checked out the Hoi An Museum.  This museum showed much of the history of Hoi An and was worth the couple hours we spent there.  There are many photos of the history of the city and artifacts that have been left as a result of the war.  We had lunch at Queen Banh Mi which came recommended by the morning's tour guide.  The sandwiches were delicious and another place we highly recommend.  It was a warm day and we had some planning to do so we found an air conditioned coffee shop and spent a couple hours in the afternoon sipping on iced coffee and catching up. The evening consisted of another tour of the old historic town and its lanterns.  A splendid day in a beautiful part of Vietnam.

Vietnam Day 18 Part 1 - Sunrise Photo Tour - SEAsia Day 44

Scott was up very early to go on a Sunrise Photo tour and workshop run by a small company Pics of Asia.  The tour consisted of 5 people and a Canadian expat tour leader.  We took a van ride from Hoi An out to a small fishing village.  The first task in the morning was a conversation about photography concepts over a cup of authentically strong Vietnamese coffee.  Our leader Fred gave some good advice and an overview of the morning. With cameras ready we walked over to the fish dock where fishermen were offloading the previous nights catch to ladies who in turn sell the seafood at local markets and to local restaurants.  After spending approximately an hour in the chaos we moved through the village and had a small breakfast.  Following breakfast we made our way to the house of a older couple who make banana and bean stuffed fried pastries for one of the local schools.  The couple was very kind and the snacks were delicious. The next stop was at a local ship repair yard.  We watched
