Vietnam day 15 - Royal Tombs - SEAsia Day 41

Today we opted for a tour as the sites we wanted to see are quite spread out.  The tour started with a boat ride up the Perfume river.  Our first stop was at the Thien Mu Pagoda.

"Built on a hill overlooking the Song Huong (Perfume River), 4km southwest of the Citadel, this pagoda is an icon of Vietnam and as potent a symbol of Hue as the Citadel. The 21m-high octagonal tower, Thap Phuoc Duyen, was constructed under the reign of Emperor Thieu Tri in 1844. Each of its seven storeys is dedicated to a manushi-buddha (a Buddha that appeared in human form)." (https://www.lonelyplanet.com/vietnam/hue/attractions/thien-mu-pagoda/a/poi-sig/1158035/357875)

After visiting the Pagoda we were served a simple but tasty lunch on the boat and then brought ashore where a bus was waiting to take us to see 3 tombs.  Tomb is technically what these are called but burial ground would be a better name.  All three of these tombs spanned multiple acres and contained temples, statues, and beautifully manicured properties.

The three tombs we visited were:

Minh Mang royal Tomb

Khai Dinh royal Tomb

Tu Duc royal tombs

Both of us were most in awe of the Khai Dinh tomb but still highly recommend the Minh Mang tomb as well.  The final tomb we visited was not as spectacular or interesting as the first two.
