Bali Day 1 - Beach and Tanah Lot Temple - SEAsia Day 56

The sun was shining when we woke up.  The first day for both us to be spent south of the equator.  Taking advantage of the sunshine we rented a scooter and headed to Batu Bolong beach.  This was the first time we both road on the same bike as we knew the distances were quite short and discomfort should be bearable for a quick trip.  The next several hours were spent relaxing in the sun, Scott failed on a surfboard for a couple exhausting hours and soon it was time for a late lunch. The food at Moana Fish Eatery was quite nice, the atmosphere probably better.

The moped had lost the air in the front tire on the short trip to lunch and Scott had it refilled only for it to deflate again with a mile left on the trip back to the hotel.  Tori got off to lighten the load on the damaged tire and Scott limped the bike back in.  He grabbed another bike and went to pick up Tori.  The tire repair took about 20 minutes and we set off to catch the sunset at Tanah Lot Temple.

On the 20 minute drive over we got caught in some rain while passing through some very pretty rice fields.  A bit wet we arrived to the temple at low tide,  a bonus as the true beauty of this temple is shown at low tide.

Following sunset we drove to an unexpectedly fabulous restuarant, Warung Dandelion.  The service was near that of a 5 star establishment, the food was excellent and plated beautifully.  The bonus was that we happened to go on a night that featured traditional Balinese dance performances throughout the course of our meal.  A wonderful experience.
