Malaysia Day 5 - KL - SEAsia Day 70

Another day of touring Kuala Lumpur or KL as the locals call it.  We started off with the National Bank Museum.  Despite the bore of the name this was a very interesting museum, interactively explaining the history of economics in Malaysia, why there has been financial collapses throughout history, and a collection of Malaysian currency dating back hundreds of years.  A museum that shared in depth knowledge as well as areas for kids.

After a snack we walked back into Chinatown and had lunch at a small restaurant hidden on the second level over looking Petaling Street.  From there we bought umbrellas for a couple of dollars (and unfortunately have given them good use) before skimming through a couple of temples in the area.

We returned back to Jamek Mosque to explore its grounds as we had only briefly wandered past the prior.  A sprawling beautifully designed mostly open air mosque.  Its timeless architecture does not show any of its 100+ years.

After having missed the fountain show the prior night we made our way back over to the Petronas towers and watched the fountain show, took some more photos of the twin towers and then explored the huge shopping centre at the base of the towers.  Once we tired of window shopping we headed for a park that is filled nightly with food trucks.  It happened that Malaysia was playing Vietnam in the first leg of the Suzuki Cup final.  Within moments of our arrival Vietnam scored not once but twice and the onlookers were very quiet.  As we ate our food we saw Malaysia manage to get one goal back, and then another by the time we reached our hotel.  A very cool way to watch a soccer match that I think could find success in Southern California and other warm and dry climates.
