Vietnam Day 26 - Mekong Delta Tour - SEAsia Day 52

The convenient location of our hotel - the heart of District 1 HCMC - meant we only had to walk around the corner to catch our tour bus for a two day visit to the Mekong River Delta.  The bus ride took approximately 3 hours to reach our first stop in the village of My Tho.  We were served some local honey and saw a small bee colony.  Following this we had a snack of very fresh tropical fruit and a small live traditional music show.

We meandered down a small path to a small little waterway, one of many that interconnect through the farms and villages of the delta.  We loaded onto a small row boat with another couple and were taken on approximately an 30 minute trip ending at a small coconut candy factory.  We learned how they make delicious chewy coconut candy and ended up buying a few packages for about two dollars each.  The coconut candy factory also featured an 8 foot long python so a few photos with it were taken.

A filling lunch was had before another short walk to a larger boat where we spent some time going down the mekong river.  From the end of the boat ride we were taken by bus to a temple that featured 3 giant buddhas.  The bus then took us a couple of hours further into the town of Can Tho for the evening.
