The four of us were awake early packing the final bits into our bags and heading out the door for the 20 minute walk to the bus station. On the bus journey we quickly passed out and woke up on the outskirts of Torres del Paine national park. De boarding we had our park passes stamped and were soon on a shuttle toward the welcome center and the beginning of our trek. The opening hike would take us 13km from the welcome center over a couple hills, through a forest before entering an expansive meadow for the final couple of hours. The views were wonderful, the weather pleasant, and the realization that the trip was finally here making this day extra special. Arriving at Campamento Seron around 3 in the afternoon we checked in and setup our camps. Excited to find out they sold beer at the refugio we enjoyed a few as a celebration of a successful first day in Torres del Paine national park. The night was clear and the stars were brilliant being so far from any light pollution.
