Chile Day 15 - Dickson to Los Perros

The weather had turned over night and we woke up to rain.  During breakfast the rain broke a bit which meant packing up camp was more pleasant than it could of been.  We left camp and started our hike through a forest and could tell that the rains had started.  There was a light mist coming through the trees and it was a bit heavier in areas where the trees were more sparse.  About an hour into the day's trek we crossed a beautiful fast flowing river that we had listened to but not seen for a while before.  A short while later the trail opened up at a viewpoint showing us a wonderful panorama of mountains, clouds, and another glacier.  As the hike continued along and we gained elevation the weather continued to cool off and the rain intensify. Approximately 3 hours in we left the forest and battled our way across an open area and along the small glacier lake created by the meltwater of Los Perros glacier.  The winds and water were whipping at us and we hurried the rest of the way into camp where it was sheltered from the wind but not the rain.  This camp was much more minimal than the previous two nights as the only access to bring supplies is by horseback.  Cold and wet we warmed up a bit in the cooking house before setting up camp.  We spent the next few hours in the cooking house.

The weather appeared to break a bit so Scott decided to hike back to the glacier lake.  He made it back to the lake and took a few photos before the weather got gnarly again and he returned back to camp.  The next couple hours were spent inside making new friends before heading early to bed as the start the following day will be before the sun is up.
