Argentina Day 2 - Markets and La Boca

Today was a day for discovering some of the arts and crafts culture of Buenos Aires.  The first part of the day was spent walking through the stalls of the Recoleta Market.  Vendors sold all kinds of art, souvenirs, hand made goods, as well as some snacks.  Set in Plaza Francia which is mere steps from the famous Recoleta cemetery.  After wandering through the market we spent about an hour exploring the huge and elaborate tombs created to hold the bodies of the rich.

We made our way back toward the center of town and found some lunch before venturing out for a long walk through the 10 block long San Telmo market.  Running along Defensa street from Plaza de Mayo to Plaza Dorrego we weaved our way through the crowds examining goods of all kinds.  The most famous products of this market are the endless amount of antiques that can be found over a 2 block stretch.

Even though our feet were tired from walking over the cobblestone we continued our walk past the stadium of argentine football club Boca Juniors to explore the La Boca neighborhood.  We marveled at the intense colors on just about all the buildings and explored some of the shops.  Having walked nearly 10 miles already we hailed an uber back to the hotel and then walked back down defenca st to grab a steak for dinner.
