Chile Day 20 - Italiano to Central

Today was the final day of a long trek with our packs on.  We packed up camp and set out for Camp Central which is located near the welcome center to the park.  About 30 minutes in we passed by camp frances which has many more amenities than the camp we stayed at.  If we were to do the trek again we will make sure to book this site instead of Italiano.  The day continued with a climb and then a descent down to Lago Nordenskjold.  By this time the day had warmed up and the sun was shining bright.  We were quite warm by the time we reached the lake.  Jared and Scott decided to go for a polar dip, while Kierand and Tori wet their feet in the cold glacial lake.  After the dip and consumption of a variety of snacks - the rationing appears to have worked - feeling refreshed we carried on.  We climbed up and away from the lake and then took a left turn through a pass.  Continuing on we eventually stopped at a fast moving creek that was being fed by melt water from a glacier much further up the mountainside.    The trail had a couple nice view points before passing through a bit of forest.  Eventually it opened up again giving a view of a lake on one side and a valley with hotel los torres in the far distance.

The walk through the valley seemed to last forever,   the hotel was gradually getting closer but never seemed to be reached.  A couple hours later we reached the hotel only to realize the camp was further still.   We were all thankful when we finally reached the last campsite of the trek.  After setting up camp hot showers were enjoyed and then a couple of beers in the lodge.  We spent some time hanging out with friends before heading to bed at 10 in order to get up before 2am for a night hike to see the torres at sunrise.
