Day 45 - Acadia National Park

After a late arrival at our KOA in Maine we slept in until approximately 9 before making breakfast, packing up the camp site, and heading the short distance to Acadia National Park.

The area somewhat reminded us of Orcas Island, as it featured a similar coastal attitude, a splattering of ocean islands, and similar ecology.  Our day at Acadia consisted of two hikes, the first up the beehive trail and onto a lake named the bowl.  Not a terribly long or strenuous hike, there were scrambles that involved using mounted bent iron rods to get over parts of the rock.  This aspect made the hike more memorable than it would have been.

The second was on the opposite side of the park and took us up to Beech Cliff.  A similarly lengthed hike the view was over Echo Lake and further in the distant the Atlantic Ocean.   The weather was pleasant and the exercise was welcome after a long day in the car the day before.

Overall the scenery at Acadia National Park was beautiful, the hikes satisfying, and the weather A+.  Another good day on our journey, capped by a 3 hour drive up into Canada to have us close to Fundy National Park in the morning.
