Day 29 - Rocky Mountain NP and Fort Collins

Following a visit from a fox during breakfast Tori and I headed toward Grand Lakes for a hike up to the Shadow Mountain Lookout tower.  The hike followed the east shoreline of the Grand Lake for approximately 2 miles before asking us to climb 1500 feet over the next 3 miles.  At the top we chatted from some friendly folks from Kansas who had ridden their horses to the top.  On the way back down we saw a forest fire grow from a small fire to a concerning amount of smoke which we later learned had forced an evacuation of the town of Columbine.

Finishing up the 10 mile hike we cooled off in the Grand Lake and then made our way back through the park, through the pretty town of Estes Park, and on to Loveland for the night.  The air bnb we stayed in was luxurious and very economical.

We ventured into Fort Collins to grab dinner and check out the local beer scene.  We stopped at Zwei and Prost, but unfortunatley did not get to make it to New Belgium or Odell due to time.

This region is certainly an area we want to travel to again.
