Thailand Day 3 - James Bond Island Tour - SEAsia Day 97

We woke up early and got picked up by a van to take us to a pier to do a tour via speedboat.  The first stop on the tour was the informally named James Bond Island located in Phang Nga National Park.  Made famous by the 1974 Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun, this picturesque island was used as the setting of the home of the man with the golden gun.  We had perfect weather for the tour and enjoyed a half hour walk amongst alot of other tourists on the island.  Our boat then sped us over to a mangrove forest where we were taken by sea canoe for a wonderful ride through the mangroves, and some caves carved through the limestone by the sea water.  Once the canoe trip completed we went a short distance to a famous muslim floating fishing village at Panyee Island for lunch and a bit of time to walk through the connected piers, shops, businesses, and houses.  The way people live here is mind boggling as they are a very isolated community living above the water mostly as fishermen.  Scott bought some dried fish from one seller, enjoyed a few bites, and then appeased Tori by feeding the remainder slowly to a local cat who was more than happy to chow down.  The tour then took us to a beach where we had about an hour to relax and enjoy the beach and water on one of the many islands in the area.

From the beach we took the boat back to the pier and were driven back to our hotel.  Saving time and cab fare we got dropped off one town up the coast from where our hotel was and checked out the Patong Beach area.  A stop at Full Moon brewworks, and a wander down the very lively Bangla street provided some entertainment.  Tired we split a cab back to our hotel with a fun couple from Brazil that we had met on the tour that day.
