Day 10 Death Valley National Park

After a less than stellar sleep at a KOA near Lake Isabella - Late arrival after a long day, and a campsite that was situated in the glow of the KOA sign, within earshot of the rattling flag pole, and within 25 feet of the highway - we cleaned up camp, made breakfast and headed to Death Valley National Park.  Tori was less than thrilled of visiting this park due to its high temperatures and lack of vegetation, but that opinion quickly changed as we passed an endless variation of eroding rock formations.  Due to our schedule we had to visit the park during the heat of the day.  The car's external thermometer read 118F at its highest.  This occurred while we were approximately 200 feet below sea level.

The wind was howling across the desert all day and was most intense as we ventured into the Badwaters Basin, the lowest point on land in the world.

Death Valley is an absolutely stunning park that needs more time than we gave it to explore.  We will make sure to return at some point when it is not 110 plus degrees.

Gave my camera to a kind German table tennis player, posed for the picture and my hat blew away.  I am happy he caught the moment of me trying to chase it down.
Photo after catching my hat, its securely in my hands, behind my back and out of the whipping hot wind.
