Day 18 - Grand Canyon South Rim Day 1

The first day at the Grand Canyon was one we will remember for a long time.  The weather was fortunately on the cooler side which benefited us as we ventured down into the canyon on the South Kaibab trail.  Our hike was just shy of 7 miles round trip taking us out to Skeleton point.  The climb back up was definitely worse than coming down but we seemed to be struggling less than others.

Upon arriving back on to the rim of the canyon, we took the shuttle back to the car and made lunch.  The 8" tortilla shells fit very well in our 9" pot and we made some avocado and sausage quesadillas for lunch.  Around 3pm we headed to the west of the Grand Canyon village and hopped on and off the shuttle bus at the majority of the view points on route to Hermit's Rest.  The Abyss and Hopi point stood out as favourites.

We returned to Powell Point to catch the sunset, and then drove back to the campground for the night.
