Day 20 - Glen Canyon, Lake Powell, and Antelope Canyon

We slept in as we hadn't slept in a bed for a couple nights and the sun rises early in Arizona where they don't adjust for daylight savings.

We started the day with a stop at Glen Canyon National Recreation area, and a short shin deep wade in Lake Powell.

Crossing back over into Arizona, next was a short hike to Hanging Garden, a small gardent oasis underneath the overhang of an eroded rock.  Views from the "garden" show many rock features and a bit of Lake Powell.  Venturing on we hopped over to the Glen Canyon Dam overlook, and marvelled at the stark contrast of the lake on one side of the damn and a small stream of water known as the Colorado river at the other.

With temperatures a mere 95F and knowing we had to spend a couple more hours outside we stopped at Dam Bar and Grille to enjoy the air conditioning and a beer.   After cooling down we headed out again to a desitination we have been looking forward to since the beginning of the trip.

We arrived an hour early for our tour of Antelope Canyon.  Two coach buses of tourists arrived at the same time as well as probably 100 other explorers.  Tours through the canyon were backed up one against the other but once inside the slot canyon it did not seem so bad.  The abosultely stunning slot canyon looks like nothing from above, but has been carved up to 50 feet deep through the colorful sandstone.  Words cannot describe this place, and we can only hope that the pictures do some justice.
