Netherlands Day 2 - Cycling north of amsterdam

We rented bicycles and took the very short ferry ride across to the north Amsterdam  within 15 minutes we had passed the city limits and were in the dutch country side.

The first town we stopped in was the small town of Zunderdorp before peddling past more sheep, cows, and wheat fields to the slightly larger but still tiny town of Ransdorp.   From Ransdorp we carried along to the small fishing town of Ransdorp.  We continued along after a rest at a grocery store for a snack.  We continued along through one more neighborhood before arriving at the NDSM wharf. This amazing former shipyard has been converted into a cultural paradise, featuring a huge space for festivals, one was going when we arrived, and huge former ship building factories converted to house creative spaces for artists of all kinds.  This incredible use of space will clearly be a hub for creativity and inspiration in the Netherlands for decades to come.

After a slightly longer ferry ride back to central we cycled a bit further and found some dinner a former factory converted into a huge food court featuring dozens of small restaurants serving every kind of food imaginable.  The dutch are finding spectacular ways to use former large spaces that will never see a return to their past manufacturing glory.
