We enjoyed the comforts of a nicer accommodation and relaxed in the morning taking our time to make breakfast before heading into the city centre of Maastricht. We explored the various sites of the town including a couple of churches, a former church converted into a beautiful bookstore, the shopping district, its old streets, walking across a couple of bridges, and just generally enjoying the slower pace and absence of tourists. The city offered beautiful cobblestone streets lined with traditional dutch row houses, cute shops, and bright bicycles. Maybe not the most exciting city centre we have been to but the contrast to Istanbul and Amsterdam made us appreciate the peace and quiet more.
