Greece Day 15 - Return to Athens - Ancient Agora

With a ferry to catch at 10:45 we woke up and packed our bags, had some breakfast and then casually made our way down to the port. With our time in the Greek Islands having come to an end we are a bit saddened as it was such a relaxing and memorable ten days.  The mix of sunshine, beaches, gorgeous towns, and local people who have not changed their lifestyles for centuries will not soon be forgotten.  We are happy to have gone during shoulder season as this place was evidently preparing for throngs of people that spend time here in the summer months.  Going earlier meant the water was a bit cooler than ideal but it also meant the days were not sweltering.  If (hopefully when) we back we will likely target the same time frame.

We arrived back in Athens around 4 and after dropping off our bags at the hotel we went and explored the Ancient Agora.  Listening to the Rick Steeves audio guide we spent an hour exploring the ancient heart of the civilized world.  Seated at the base of the hill of the Acropolis the Agora was the buzzing hub of ancient Athens.  Home to markets, the government, and an array of residences the Agora was the birthplace of many democratic ideologies that are still in use today.

Once we had finished with the walking tour we wandered back toward our hotel finding dinner along the way.  Scott capped the day off with a couple brews at the newly opened Strange Brew brewery and taproom while Tori was smart and went to bed early.
