Peru Day 15 - Arequipa this time with Mandy

We caught a taxi to the airport and were in Arequipa by 8:30.  Thankfully our hotel let us check in early.  After dropping off our laundry we found some breakfast at the Red Lion pub.  Breakfast was enjoyed while watching the Liverpool v Chelsea match as well as the masters.  Watching Tiger win his first major in a decade was a memorable experience.

In the afternoon we visited the Santa Catalina monastery.  Opened in 1580 this holy place is still home to 46 nuns.  We learned about the lifestyle and sacrifice of the women who lived here as well as the history of how it has survived over the centuries.  The entire complex spans several city blocks and was painted in bright reds and blues.  Our visit took a couple of hours and we saw an extensive look into the lives of these women.

For dinner we wandered over to Chelawasi public house, another fun spot serving local craft beers.  The night was capped off at the Pisco Museum which is barely a museum but did serve good pisco cocktails.
