Peru Day 1 - Chucuito

Again we were up relatively early and caught a bus to the border.  This was one of the most interesting border crossings of our trip.  First we were taken off the bus and directed to the bolivian exit immigration building.  After receiving a stamp we were then told to walk across into Peru where we had to find the entrance immigration building that was somewhat hidden amongst the various other buildings of the small border town.  After waiting in another line we had our passports stamps and found our bus that was now waiting on the peruvian side of the border.

A couple easy hours later we were dropped off in Chucuito.  We walked through town to our air bnb before going into town for lunch.  Before lunch we tried to find a place that accepted USD dollars as the town did not have an atm or anywhere to exchange money.  We finally found a restaurant that said yes to american dollars but after eating they apparently no longer took USD.  We left a twenty with the waiter promising to return a few hours later once Scott's friend Sean arrived.

Thankfully a few hours later Sean showed up and we were able to return to the restaurant and pay in the Peruvian Soles.  Lesson learned always exchange a little bit of money as soon as possible.   We spent the rest of the day checking out the sites around town including a bit of their 425th anniversary celebrations.
