We caught a bus early in the morning and arrived in Arequipa in the mid afternoon. It was a pretty bus ride across the southern highlands of peru and we arrived in the very colonial city excited to explore. Some of our energy may have come from the fact that we were now only at about 8000 feet above sea level and despite some of the cities smog the air felt rich and very breathable. We toured around the main plaza of the city before climbing up to a balcony to watch the first of two beautiful sunsets we would experience in Arequipa. We capped off the day with a stop at a local brewery disappointed only by the lack of swag which meant Scott had to continue wearing his well worn cap that was purchased months before in Vietnam.
Well we had one incredible year of travel over the latter half of 2018 and the first of 2019. We will continue to use this to post on other places we find ourselves lucky enough to explore as part of our return to normal life.
