Peru Day 6 - Finishing Colca Canyon

Up again super early, we started hiking back out at 4am.  A few hours later we were at the top happy to have finished a hike that many people online make out to be horrific.  We suspect it is a case of not being prepared for altitude and hiking out too fast.  After a much needed breakfast we were back in the van headed for a Japanese style sight seeing tour route of the way home.  A couple stops to view the canyon before we stopped for a morning soak in some hot springs.  After about an hour at the hot springs we drove for a while and stopped at the volcanoes lookout.  Here we could see five volcanoes of which one is considered active.  From the hot springs we could see another that was actively venting gasses but unfortunately we could not see this from the volcano lookout.  A few hours later we were back in Arequipa in the late afternoon.  A little bit more wandering of Arequipa was done and a couple beers had.  Tori was happy to have had a couple days to rejuvenate and see Arequipa from the perspective of coffee shops.

Our fantastic guide showing us one of the many herbs or plants and explaining what they did with them.  This time it was a sweet bean picked from a field but still very interesting.
